Why Sydney, why now
A dense, connected, high-demand city
Sydney has the ride demand, charging network and regulatory pathway a Cybercab fleet needs.
Concentrated demand
The CBD, airport and inner suburbs give a small fleet the density to start well, then grow.
A live regulatory pathway
NSW already has an approval framework for automated vehicle trials. We are building to it.
A gap worth filling
Late nights, early airport runs and outer-suburb trips are where supply is thinnest.

Frequently asked questions
Sydney Robotaxis is an independent Australian pre-launch venture planning to operate a fleet of Tesla Cybercab autonomous vehicles in Sydney. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by Tesla, Inc. No service is currently operating.
Sydney Robotaxis is pre-launch. Any future service depends on regulatory approval from NSW and technology readiness from Tesla’s Full Self-Driving platform. We expect to launch once Cybercab is available for third-party fleet operators and the NSW regulatory pathway is confirmed.
Our proposed initial service zone covers six inner-Sydney corridors: Sydney CBD and Barangaroo, Sydney Airport and Mascot, Green Square and Alexandria, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, Potts Point and Woolloomooloo, and Pyrmont and The Rocks. We plan to expand outward from there.
Tesla Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-built autonomous ride-hailing vehicle. It has no steering wheel or pedals, seats two passengers, and is designed to operate without a human driver using Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. Tesla began robotaxi trials in Austin, Texas in 2025.
Autonomous vehicles use multiple redundant sensors, cameras and AI to navigate safely. Tesla’s FSD system has accumulated billions of miles of data. All Sydney Robotaxis vehicles will operate under NSW’s automated vehicle trial framework, with remote human oversight available at all times.
